Eden Health Food Blends
Wholefood and superfood powders are a brilliant addition to a healthy diet and can be the perfect thing to give you an extra boost. Far superior to supplements made up of synthetic nutrients, wholefood powders are my recommendation when it comes to supplementing. Using organic and all natural ingredients, the Eden Health Food blends are some of the best on the market and my personal favourite.
In this review I want to take a look at what makes these products superior and why they’re my personal choice when it comes to wholefood blends. This post is in no way sponsored and is all personal opinion based on my nutrition knowledge and experience using these products. Full disclosure that Eden Health Foods were kind enough to gift some of their amazing products for my Nourished Advent Calendar and the reason I reached out to them is because I want to support businesses offering amazing health products and are in alignment with my philosophy.
To start, let’s look at what they have to offer. The Eden Health Foods range is comprehensive and they have things like plant based protein powders, superfood blends of greens, high vitamin c foods and energy stimulating foods, along with gut cleansing blends, pre/probiotics and even activated charcoal. These products have you covered on all bases and are a great way to supplement a healthy diet and ensure you’re meeting all of your nutritional needs in a natural way.
One of my favourite things about the Eden Health Food products is that they don’t even use ‘natural flavours’. So many products that would otherwise be healthy contain the dreaded natural flavours. Now I know, you may be wondering “but they say they’re natural, why shouldn’t we be having them?”. The truth is that ‘natural flavours’ is an umbrella term and can contain a number of ingredients that don’t have to be disclosed. The only criteria is that they had to start off as a natural ingredient… however, that doesn’t stop them from tampering with or further processing them into something that can no longer be considered a real food. When we use actual natural ingredients to flavour things, we don’t need natural flavours. You’ll also notice when you taste foods with natural flavours, they certainly don’t taste natural and the flavour is too strong, artificial tasting, or really sweet - that’s a major red flag for me. I like knowing exactly what’s in my food and that’s part of my real food philosophy. Thankfully amazing brands like Eden Health don’t compromise and use just real foods with none of the nasties.
Let’s dive a bit deeper into two of the products I often use, the Wild C Blend and Superfood Greens Formula.
Wild C Blend:
There are so many amazing real food sources of vitamin C and the Eden Food wild C blend contains powdered form of some of these. With powerful antioxidant properties and a number of health benefits, now more than ever it’s important to keep on top of our vitamin C needs.
The ingredients are simply:
Vitamin C Blend 2.67g:
Goji Berry*, Acerola Cherry*, Rosehips*, Pure Camu Camu*, Gubinge (Kakadu Plum)+
Antioxidant Blend 0.3g:
Acai Berry*, Maqui Berry*
Alkalising pH Buffer Blend 0.03g:
Coriander Leaf*, Parsley Leaf*
*Certified Organic +Wildcrafted
I mean it doesn’t get more natural than that! These ingredients contain bioavailable forms of vitamin C, which means our body absorbs them well and it naturally tastes good thanks to the delicious real foods being used.
Super Food Blend:
It can be hard to get enough greens into our diet each and every day, so by supplementing with a nutrient dense greens powder this helps us gain the benefits of these powerful foods. This mix can be added to your smoothie or mixed in with some water. I notice such a difference when supplementing with a greens powder and can certainly say our body loves us for it when we do.
The ingredients and purpose of each one is as follows:
Spirulina* – Highest plant source of absorbable protein (65%)
Chlorella* – Detoxes and draws heavy metals from your body
Alfalfa* – Draws minerals from deep in the earth
Barley Grass* – Great source of nutrition
Wheat Grass* – Mildly cleansing and full of chlorophyll
Beetroot* – Cleansing and known for building blood
Rosehips* – A natural source of highly absorbable vitamin C
Spinach* – Rich source of iron, calcium and vitamin K
Dulse Seaweed* – Rich natural source of trace elements
Peppermint Leaf* – Excellent digestive aid and adds flavour
Green Stevia Leaf* – May help natural sugar balancing
Aphanizomenon Flos-Aquae (AFA)+ – rare blue-green algae harvested wild from Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon
*Certified Organic +Wildcrafted
Eden Health Foods describe this one as ‘natures most nourishing multivitamin’ and I think I’d have to agree with that! You really can’t beat using real foods to meet your nutritional needs as opposed to synthetic nutrients that are in so many supplements on the market. With 12 different foods inside, it’s also a great way to boost variety in our diet which is so important for optimal health and the state of our microbiome.
It’s easy to see why I love these products and personally use them. I hope you’ve learnt a lot about what to look for when wanting to supplement your diet and why wholefood powder blends are the way to go.
