Choc Boost Smoothie (a.k.a. High Iron Smoothie)

That's right, a plant based source of iron to help you meet your daily requirements - you're welcome!⁠

This yummy chocolate smoothie contains 6.3mg of iron.
For adult females (up to 50 years old) the RDI of iron is 18mg, after 50 you only need 8mg, which means this smoothie is getting you majority of your iron requirements.
Males need just 8mg of iron per day, so drinking this smoothie has you most of the way there.⁠⁠

Choc Boost Smoothie⁠

(a.k.a high iron smoothie)⁠
Vegan | Nut Free⁠


Ingredients:⁠

  • 1 banana⁠

  • 1 cup oat milk⁠

  • 1 tbsp cacao powder⁠

  • 1.5 tbsp pepitas⁠

  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds⁠

  • 1/2 tbsp tahini⁠⁠


Method:⁠

  1. Add all ingredients to your blender and blend to combine, until smooth.⁠

  2. Pour into a glass and serve.⁠⁠


Remember that our ability to absorb iron (and all nutrients) lies with the health of our gut. The more good we do for our gut, the better able it is to absorb the goodness we feed it.⁠
