We’re so lucky to have a fantastic food scene here in Melbourne - it really is foodie heaven! I love eating out at cafes and restaurants, and it’s even better when their focus is on healthy meals and sustainable practices. In this blog post I want to celebrate some of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne.

My 5 favourite Healthy Cafes in Melbourne are:

  • Serotonin Eatery

  • Tahina

  • Veggie Bar

  • Heal.thy Self Co

  • Just Falafs

Let’s take a look at each of these places:

Serotonin Eatery

Website: https://serotonindealer.com/

Address: 52 Madden Grove, Burnley VIC 3121

Food designed to make you happy, how can you not love everything about serotonin eatery?! From the beautiful decor, to the most delicious meals, lattes that have smiley faces and friendly staff, I absolutely love Serotonin and it would have to be my #1 favourite place to eat out.

Tahina

Website: https://www.tahinabar.com/

Addresses:

  • 223 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070

  • 362 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065

Serving up plant based middle eastern cuisine, this Israeli inspired food is next level delicious. The flavours really are something you need to try for yourself and the value of these meals is incredible. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a regular here.

Vegie Bar

Website: https://www.vegiebar.com.au/

Address: 380 Brunswick St, Fitzroy VIC 3065

One of the first healthy cafes I ever discovered, veggie bar makes vegetarian meals fun for everyone. Having tried almost everything on their massive menu, I’m yet to find a dish I don’t like. If you’re heading here you’re going to want to make a booking, I’m not the only one who loves Vegie Bar and it’s wildly popular. While you’re there make sure you check out their plant based ice-cream next door at Boys & Girls.

Heal.thy Self Co

Website: http://www.healthyselfco.com.au/

Address: 26 Ballarat St, Yarraville VIC 3013

Closest to home, I’m a big fan of the delicious food and drinks at Heal.thy Self Co and love how convenient it is to visit. Whether you’re after breakfast, brunch or lunch, it’s always hard to choose which amazing meal to go for.

Just Falafs

Website: https://www.justfalafs.com.au/

Address: 207 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North VIC 3068

Did someone say falafels?! These have to be some of the best falafels I’ve ever tasted and they’re served up with the most epic salads. These big plates of goodness are sure to help you hit your veggie intake goals and taste incredible. Also who can resist a great name like Just Falafs.

Other Melbourne Cafes I love:

While those are my top five favourite places to eat, there are so many amazing cafes and restaurants in Melbourne. A few others that I want to give a special mention are:

Moroccan Soup Bar

Website: http://moroccansoupbar.com.au/

Address: 316 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North VIC 3068

The banquet here is an absolute must and one of the best ways to try a range of delicious dishes and flavours. You’re going to want to get here early to make sure you get a seat, but if you miss out you can take some containers and have a take away feast.

The Abyssinian

Website: https://www.theabyssinian.com.au/

Address: 277 Racecourse Rd, Kensington VIC 3031

If you haven’t tried Ethiopian food you don’t know what you’re missing out on. Every time I go here I get the Vegetarian share plate and am not disappointed. You get to try a range of dishes and it comes out on giant pancakes!

Brighton Soul Cafe

Website: https://www.facebook.com/BrightonSoul/

Address: 129 Church St, Brighton VIC 3186

With the fun decor, colourful meals and delicious options, Brighton Soul is the whole package and such a nice place to go. I frequent this one as a brunch spot with my besties and having tried a range of things on the menu I’m never disappointed.
